SACREDNESS OF TREES - A WORLDWIDE PERFORMANCE

Every tradition has a starting point. This year we hope to start a new one, as we have decided to let the beautiful tones of Ellen Lindquist’s piece for carillon, Sacredness of Trees, mark that Nordic Music Days is in town– just as the piece did in 2019, when Nordic Music Days was held in Bodö, Norway.

But when Sacredness of Trees was premiered in Bodø, it did not only sound there. The piece was also performed from 16 carillons around the world during the festival days. In this way the piece became a beautiful sounding symbol of Nordic Music Days and by the end of the festival it was decided to perform the piece at further festivals as a kind of NMD baton.

This year the piece will once again be played worldwide during the festival week, and the list is quite impressive:
