One of the world's longest running festivals for contemporary classical music, Nordic Music Days was established by the Council of Nordic Composers in 1888 and is a key event for composers and creators throughout the region.
For only the third time in its history the festival will take place outside of the Nordic countries, as Glasgow hosts musicians from Greenland, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland.
In the lead up to the festival dates, soundfestival’s annual adventures in new music take place in Aberdeen from 20 to 27 October, and the University of Glasgow will host a conference on the role and value of experimentation in new music on 29 and 30 October.
New for 2024, NordEX Programme - new connections, new thinking, new practice - the Festival Hub will be alive with activity and opportunities to network, dialogue with and get inspired by music colleagues from across Europe.
Join us in Scotland for 12 days of live music, installations, talks and screenings celebrating new music and sound from across the Nordics and Scotland, delving into contemporary society and cultural connections as we build long-lasting and sustainable partnerships for the future.
